Rating My Sand & Fog Perfume Oils — Part 2
Sand+Fog has quietly become one of the most interesting fragrance oil brands on the market — accessible enough to find at major retailers, but with formulas that genuinely surprise. This is Part 2 of my full collection review, covering five oils from my personal collection, each tested on skin over multiple wearings. These are honest impressions, not marketing copy.
Review No. 01
Floral Mist — Brume Florale
- Dewdrop
- Water Lilies
- Lily
- Lotus
- Ozonic notes
- Musk
- Vanilla
- Copahu
I was happily surprised by this one. The name “Floral Mist” sounds generic, almost like a body spray you’d find at a pharmacy — so my expectations were low. What I actually got was something light, aquatic, and genuinely sophisticated. The water lily and lotus combination creates a clean floral that feels effortless rather than constructed.
The ozonic notes in the heart are what elevate this beyond a typical floral. They add a slightly cool, post-rain quality that keeps the whole thing from feeling heavy or dated. And the base — musk, vanilla, copahu — grounds it beautifully without pulling it into gourmand territory.
Wear & longevity
As an oil, longevity is impressive — about 6 to 7 hours on skin with gentle projection. It stays close to the body, which I actually appreciate for this type of light floral. Apply to pulse points and let it develop quietly throughout the day.
Review No. 02
Innocence
- Almond
- Anise
- Cinnamon
- Amber
- Tonka
- Vanilla
- Musk
- Sugar
Innocence has one of the most interesting note profiles in the Sand+Fog collection. Almond and anise on top — which sounds like it could go very sweet or very licorice-heavy — but it doesn’t. The anise is subtle, almost just a brightness rather than a dominant character, and the almond reads as soft and powdery rather than sharp or synthetic.
The cinnamon heart is warm without being spicy-aggressive, and the base is genuinely lovely: amber, tonka, vanilla, musk, and sugar creating a skin-close warmth that lasts remarkably well. This is the kind of fragrance you put on and people lean in when they smell it on you without being able to identify exactly what it is.
Wear & longevity
Excellent longevity — 7 to 8 hours easily on skin. The sweet, warm base clings beautifully. Works particularly well on cooler days when the warmth of the base has something to do.
Review No. 03
Rose & Pear — Rose et Poire
- Orange
- Rose
- Peony
- Violet
- Magnolia
- Musk
- Vanilla
- Praline
- Amber
Full disclosure: I am not a huge fan of floral scents. They often feel either too soapy, too powdery, or too grandmotherly for my taste. Rose & Pear is none of those things. The rose here is modern — soft and slightly fruity from the pear accord that runs through the top — rather than the heavy, old-fashioned rose you might expect.
The heart is a lush floral bouquet — peony, violet, magnolia — that could easily have been overwhelming but is handled with real restraint. It’s full without being loud. And the base surprises: musk, vanilla, praline, and amber give it a warmth and sweetness that makes the floral feel contemporary and approachable rather than traditional.
Wear & longevity
About 5 to 6 hours on skin. The floral heart is prominent for the first two hours then softens into the warm base for the remainder of the wear. The green glass bottle is also one of the nicest in the Sand+Fog range aesthetically.
Review No. 04
Pistachio Dream
- Pistachio
- Nut
- Almond
- Marshmallow
- Sugar
- Rum
- Vanilla
- Brown Sugar
- Cream
Pistachio Dream was one of my first Sand+Fog oils, and it introduced me to the brand’s approach to gourmand fragrances — which is less about smelling literally edible and more about creating something warm, comforting, and slightly nostalgic. The pistachio note is remarkably realistic: nutty, slightly creamy, with a natural sweetness that doesn’t veer into artificial territory.
The heart is where things get interesting: marshmallow and rum alongside sugar create a soft, confectionery warmth that’s genuinely cozy without being overpowering. It’s described by some in the fragrance community as a dupe adjacent to certain niche nut-forward fragrances, and I can see the parallel — it punches above its price point significantly.
Wear & longevity
About 6 hours on skin, stronger in the first two to three hours. The gourmand base holds well. Best on slightly warmer skin — body heat activates the nutty creaminess beautifully.
Review No. 05
Coastal Cashmere
- Mandarin
- Coconut
- Bergamot
- Ylang-ylang
- Jasmine
- Lily
- Tonka
- Musk
- Sandalwood
- Vanilla
Another happy surprise from Sand+Fog. Coastal Cashmere sounds like a candle name — something generic and forgettable — but the execution is genuinely excellent. The top opens with a bright, slightly tropical burst of mandarin, coconut, and bergamot that’s clean and uplifting without being clichéd.
The heart transitions beautifully into ylang-ylang, jasmine, and lily — a lush but never overwhelming floral that has that slightly waxy, feminine character I associate with real quality in a floral accord. And the base is where the “cashmere” in the name earns its place: tonka, musk, sandalwood, and vanilla create a soft, skin-like warmth that’s clean, comforting, and incredibly wearable.
Wear & longevity
About 7 hours on skin — impressive for this oil. The black bottle is beautiful and the oil itself is a deep, dark amber that’s visually striking. Clean, feminine, and sophisticated enough for professional settings.
